    1. The earliest aeroplane flight in WA was 1911 at Belmont Park Racecourse. As far as I am aware, the next aviation operations were in 1919 by Norman Brearley from next to Belmont Racecourse, prior to him moving to Langley Park.

  1. As kids we used to ride from home in Floreat Pk to watch the motor bikes scrambling. At that stage we could ride around the old track. It was made of a base of limestone then and it was pretty rough.
In about 1964 when the university playing grounds had been developed I saw a Cessna light aircraft had crash landed on the western end of the grounds. no serious injuries, however this would have been the last plane to land at this site.

    1. You are correct. Their aircraft was a Cessna 205/206 being flown by a licensed pilot who was a teacher and I understand he fostered aviation courses in WA high schools. Some of his students were on this flight, but nobody was hurt. He did a great job putting the aircraft down without injuries after the engine failed over such a populated area.
