  1. Hi David,

I guess I am late in inquiring about these beautiful Fokker 50 aircrafts being retired by VARA?

I came to know and experience this aircraft and clocked over 2000 hours flying it for 4 years in Papua New Guinea. I am now engaged by a start-up company and I am searching for two units of Fokker 50 to launch the airline’s operation with.

I am presently discussing with Fokker Marketing Directorate,NLD, the two units parked in Seletar airport, Singapore, VH-FNE MSN 20107 and VH-FNH MSN 20113. Any information you could shed on the fate of the two units will be very much appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Emmanuel Kadiko

  2. I was fortunate enough to see Virgin Airlines final F50 flight into and out of Geraldton that same day with VH-FNF leaving Geraldton at 2.15pm for Perth, was that the last scheduled flight of the F50’s?

    1. Hi Phil,
The main article lists all of the final F50 flights:
      VA2655 Perth-Geraldton: VH-FNF dep 1229, arr 1336;
      VA2654 Geraldton-Perth: VH-FNF dep 1411, arr 1508; FINAL RPT SCHEDULED SERVICE
VA9061 ‘Farewell Fokker 50’ charter flight over Rottnest, Mandurah and Perth: VH-FNH dep 1524, arr 1627. Water cannon salute on arrival. FINAL F50 REVENUE SERVICE. Arrived at Bay 205, Terminal 2.

      1. Thank You, and for the page on the F50’s, first time visitor to your site. I managed to get photos of the last flight into and out of Geraldton.

        1. You’re welcome. The F50s are gradually being flown over to Alice Springs for storage, and only VH-FNB, FNF, FNI and FSL are still at Perth as at today.
I have just updated the fleet list at the bottom of the main article.
          Regards,
          David

          1. Hi David, just wondering if you see a future for any of the Fokker 50s in retirement? Maybe something other then flying but not in the scrapping line.

  3. Hello, ref your terrific coverage of the final F 50 operation. I was fortunate to be given a complimentary flight by VARA on the 18th Feb on FNH to Albany which was terrific.
I was with ANSETT ops flight department when the F 50s came into service in Nov 87 and actually flew on FNA out of MEL on a staff familiarisation flight before it went into service.
Over the years I managed to fly in all 10 of them, FNA-FNJ and when transferred to PER in 96, was able to fly on most of the F 50 services to the smaller airports they served. so have had a long association with the aircraft. So now we just have to wait and see who buys them , possibly over to East Africa where many are now based in Nairobi.

I have an update on three of the ex ANSETT F 50s for your information.
ex VH-FNC sn 20108 SE-LEH then PH-MUJ, was sold in Kenya 09/14 and is now 5Y-SED
ex VH-FNE sn 20110 SE-LEL then PH-GER also went to Kenya 03/14 and is now 5Y-SKN
ex VH-FNG sn 20112 SE-LEC then PH-KPB at Maastricht, as unable to find a buyer was declared PWFU in 01/16 so probably will become a spare parts supply.

Ref VH-FNB, as we know, it was due a major check so future not so rosy, FNA on the other hand test flew on the 3rd March so we’ll see where that ends up.
    regards,
    Merv Crowe
